8 ball vs 9 ball..?

What are people's thoughts on the main differences between 8 ball and 9 ball in terms of the skills and tactics they require?

The most obvious difference is that 8 ball gets harder the longer the game goes on - because you have fewer target balls and more obstacles (opponent's balls) - and 9 ball is harder at the start, but gets easier as you go on and take the obstacles off the board.

Also bank shots are more of a factor in 9 ball because you have less choice and you're forced to try to pot the ball from wherever it is.

My impression is that you have to be more precise with position in 9 ball - while you can pretty easily get to the last couple of balls in 8 ball without being particularly good at positioning.

I ask because I've been logging my games and my win rate on 9 ball is way higher than 8 ball (70%+ vs 50%).

I don't know if that's because my game is more suited to 9 ball - or because I'm often getting matched with weaker players - maybe both.
