Assessments

I teach a course that is also taught by the chair of my department. We’ve been teaching the same course now for a year and a half. I’ve made plenty of adjustments that suits my teaching style and I have added resources, etc. For the most part, we are in sync with some differences that she approves on my syllabus. My concern is that the assessments are all project and based on papers. I’d like to include a quiz, to assess some of the more challenging content in a different way. I am curious what format you are all using. Paper? Computer? What does this look like in your class? This question seems ridiculous, but both courses I teach do not have formal quiz or test assessments, and I am new to adjuncting, so I am curious what the norm is.
