Why do people side with mongooses?

I always side with the snake during mongoose-snake encounters. People all over the YouTube comment sections always talk about the bravery and heroism of mongooses. Do these people not realize mongooses naturally kill snakes and often eat them? That means the snake is the underdog. Not the mongoose. It would take a miracle for a snake to kill a mongoose. These people seem to not realize expecting a snake to beat a mongoose is like expecting a pit bull to beat a lion. Or expecting your feisty cat to be able to fight off a German Sheperd. Or expecting the Zulu to beat the British. In reality snakes are outmatched.

Yes, I get it. We were all taught ever since we were children how dangerous snakes are. Therefore they are naturally the “villain” of these encounters.
