No luck in getting an engineering apprenticeship

I'm now 17 as of yesterday and I've been looking for mechanical engineering/manufacturing apprenticeships (preferably level 3 but level 2 would also be ok at this point) for over a year and I've barely ever even been sent a reply and have only gotten to the interview stage once and got rejected because it was with the RAF and I have a history of migraines. And it's not even a lack of jobs to apply for because at this point I've applied for over 30-40 apprenticeships and at this point I am applying for any that are even vaguely related. I've also tried to get many other jobs just to get by but not even the lowest paying notoriously easy to get part time jobs have progressed onto the interview stage. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated and (hoping this isn't a bad thing to put) I live in the north area of greater manchester so if any company sees this and is willing to give me a shot please let me know in comments!
