Wrist sling question

So, I'm fairly new to shooting my compound, and would like to get a wrist sling for safety's sake, but don't want to use a stabilizer (yet). Anyone used something like this in place of the bar to hold on sling? Do they fit? I know I could use a 5/16" 24 thread bolt and washer, but I like the look of a stubby like these more. Also, does the metal grommet on the wrist strap not scratch up the bows?
