What satay sauce do chinese restaurants in the uk use?

Hello I am a huge fan of the satay sauce that you can get in most chinese restaurants, runny one i can pour on rice etc but every type of satay sauce i buy in shops never taste or look like the one i get in restaurants. i was wondering if anyone owned a chinese that could tell me what they use? thanks
