Thai au pair only get EUR 30 per week
Hello everyone,
A Thai au pair living with a Dutch family in the Netherlands has been asked to provide for her own groceries, toiletries and other consumables. She cooks for herself too, in addition to cooking for the family. Strict separation between ingredients. She has hers, the family have theirs. High quality free range eggs for the family, low cost battery cage eggs for the au pair. Top brand dish washing detergent for the family, budget brand for the au pair.
They have proposed a budget of EUR 30 per week to do that.
My questions:
- Is this a common situation, as in everything separate and the au pair having her own budget?
- Can you live off of EUR 30 per week if you have to pay everything yourself as the au pair?
Thank you
