What is your experience with AAC apps?

We are thinking of getting a cheap tablet only for AAC for our non verbal 2 year old. He just started speech therapy and the therapist thinks it could be beneficial to bring on language. She suspects he’s a gestalt processor.

What is your experience with AAC apps, did you find your children still developed language while using them or did they solely rely on the app to communicate?
