Therapist ended up being extremely anti-diagnosis
Seeking others experiences.
Me and my exwBPD went to a therapist, knowing that we wanted to discuss BPD, but after many sessions with her she finally disclosed that she is actually extremely anti-diagnosis and is strongly against using any kind of label or terminology related to BPD.
She was very passionate that no label or terminology like "splitting" or "dissociation" or any comment on "reality distortion" etc be mentioned in any way, even though they were clearly happening.
And I was made a villain for wanting a diagnosis and wanting to talk about our experiences with these terms which were clearly accurate. I was effectively being asked to pretend like my partner does not have BPD. It was so invalidating and incredibly frustrating.
Would love to hear thoughts if anyone has had similar experiences. Thanks.
