Plz help. Filed claim, then canceled. Money is nowhere to be found.

Long story short I filed a claim for a charge. Did not recognize a charge from my landlord company and after asking them I realized it was a charge I needed to pay that was in my lease so I contacted bank of America and canceled my claim.

Neither I nor the landlord company has the funds. Bank of A says they do not have funds and they believe the merchant does. They said all I can do is file a billing dispute, but wouldn’t that just create another dispute with the merchant? Where is the money? What should I do?

(Merchant sent me proof that they do not have the funds) they are saying I still need to pay the charge that’s on my resident portal but I am still out that amount of money.
