Is commission really the best for new barbers?

I’ve searched the threads regarding commission vs booth rent whenever you’re fresh out of school and in your first shop. However, even though commission seems to be the way to go in the beginning, do you really find that the majority of your clients follow you when leaving to go to a different shop? Also, at least in my area, the commission shops are lower end with a lot of walkins. Doesn’t exactly seem like the type of clients that would leave and be willing to pay more money 🤔

With all of this being said, should I just bite the bullet and do booth rent and build my brand and clientele at the shop I’d want to work at long term?
