Exterior drainage question

Hi all, I'm a novice when it comes to home repair. Just wanted to see if I should just extend or divert the flow of water when it rains.

Quick background: this is located in the backyard, I live in San Francisco a few blocks from the ocean with this pic facing the ocean, no water issues at the moment. Old house built in 1954.
