Jets Free Agency Preview: How Do They Untangle This Nightmare?

Sup guys? The Jets announced that they are moving on from Aaron Rodgers. That is expected to come with additional corresponding moves that will leave this team thin. Half the players seem upset about it, half seem happy. Just a disaster.

The article linked below gets into the full nuance of the contract situations as well as some suggestions on who I think they could add. If they don't make many moves, some incumbent players could stand to benefit. Here is a very brief synopsis.

QB - With Aaron Rodgers out they have some options. They could do a bridge year with Tyrod Taylor (who is under contract) or another free agent QB. Maybe they let Jordan Travis take a stab. They could also draft someone.

RB - Breece Hall is under contract for this year then he becomes a free agent. If they don't plan to extend him, trading him is not out of the question thought we just saw what happened when the other New York team let Saquon Barkley leave. They do have some interesting players in Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis behind Hall.

WR - Garrett Wilson had trade rumors swirling but maybe now that Rodgers is gone he will want to stay. I expect Davante Adams and Allen Lazard to be released. That leaves the WR2 chair wide open. What are we thinking?

TE - The only tight end with a meaningful contract at this moment is Jeremy Ruckert (technically Zach Kuntz was signed to a reserves/futures contract which is basically an invitation to camp for the 90 man roster). If they REALLY lean into a bridge year, maybe a dark horse to pick up snaps/targets?

Again, here are the links to the full write-ups that cover ALL the players deeper down the depth chart as well with a little more discussion on the contracts and the future. These teams with moving parts like this are often a good way to create leverage.
