Sweet wrapper teleported

So this happened last night. My wife and I had been out for dinner and were paying the bill. At the register area, they had a bowl of free mints/boiled fruit sweets. I grabbed a mint (white wrapper) and offered to grab my wife one. She chose plum (purple wrapper). We opened our sweets and dropped our wrappers in the trash bin right there at the register. The bin was empty and we clearly saw both wrappers go in - a white one and a purple one. We left the restaurant and went home.

On our way back, we stopped at the drug store to grab some stuff. Upon getting to the register, my wife went to pull out her purse from her pocket. She put her hand in, then turned to me and said "WTF I threw this in the trash!". Along with her purse, she had pulled out the same purple plum sweet wrapper. No idea how this happened, but we were both freaked out for a bit, considering we both saw the wrappers go in the trash 5 minutes before this.
