I regret not attending the ib

I applied to the ib 2 and got in the second time. The place I live (Finland) requires you to have really good grades or pass the entrance exam. I was all ready to go but my dad had a health problem and I was to scared to make the move. Since the ib was in another city. I regret going so much since I know I would have thrived there. I called them today to see if I could still attend and they said “unfortunately we filled in your place”. Now I’m just filled with the most regret a person could feel.
