HELP!! Goeppertia Zebrina
Hello Plant lovers!
I have always been obsessed with plants and recently started growing plants indoors in my home. I am still a beginner. Because of all my plant talk, one day my parents recently bought a Goeppertia Zebrina home. It's so hard to maintain this plant. Please help a fellow plant lover learn and understand her plants.
The bottom leaves of the plants a going yellow and the almost all leaves are have brown dried up spots. The leaf in the second picture is a brand new leaf and it developed a brown spot. There also roots coming out of the drain holes. But very little. The soil looks compact and I unable to easily separate the soil and plant from the pot to check if its root bound.
A little more about the plant when I got it. So as soon as I got the plant I check of damaged leaves and removed a few leaves that have gone yellow. The rest of the plant looked healthy but with some brown dried spots. I water the plant and put near my window that gets bright indirect light. Slowly after a week the leaves started curling and drooping. They won't come together during the nights like they normally should. I have been top watering the plant and doubts if the soil is having some dry spots. So this time I bottom watered it and the plants looks much healthier.
So does the yellowing of leaves and brown spots mean the plant is root bound and I have to shift it to a bigger pot. Or is the damage caused beacuse of the improper watering. I also want to understand what causes the brown spots and how can I prevent them. I have a new leaf coming I don't want that to be damaged as well🥺. I also want to know how to clean the leafs. When I got Plat it have a lot of dust and water marks. I have cleaned them with a damp cloth thrice in the past 2 weeks and still have the dirty marks. As the leaves are thin and have damage, it scares me to clean them. What is the proper way to clean the leaves? Is just plain water enough?
Sorry for a long explanation and an almost rant. I am really desperate to understand and care for my plant. Thank you for sparing some time and helping me out plant lovers!
