Lease help? Renter in Iowa

I’ve been struggling to find an actual answer online so here I am.

I have a month by month lease in Iowa for an apartment and I have 1 roommate. For this type of lease I am required to give a 30 day notice for when I want to move out. I have emailed them this notice already….

My problem: The leasing office is telling me that me and my roommate both need to come in person to take me off the lease. Long story short my roommate and I are not on good terms and she also told me a few days ago she is moving out soon too (I don’t know other details). Am I actually legally required to come in person with my roommate to do this if it doesn’t say so on our lease????

I have emailed asking for a copy of my lease to see if it says anything but I have not gotten it yet.
