Can we talk about the end of Conclave?
I'm not talking about the final twist at the end, but the very final shot where Lawrence is alone in his room and then looks out to see a group of nuns leaving and (I think) laughing together as the exit into the courtyard. I've been thinking about why Berger chose to end on that image and I think it may have been meant to suggest the idea that Sister Agnes and the other sisters may have somehow played a bigger and more active role than was apparent in the ultimate decision of the conclave. It made me go back and rethink all of the scenes with Rossellini, her motives and her moves. What do you think?
