Stupid question for parents in the USA

So first of all please don't see this as judgment, it really isn't. I'm just a European trying to understand some things. As a background, many of the things happening in the USA that might be normal to you are just completely wild to most people in the EU (no public healthcare, weapons being legal while there's school shootings happening almost daily etc).

One of the things that appear so absolutely bizarre and absurd to me is the lack of maternity leave. In my country I'm taking 2 years and I'm currently considering taking a third year since I'm hesitant to put a 2 year old in daycare cause "they're still so small and need mummy at this point". So the thought of putting a 3 months old in full time daycare to me is just completely WILD. I remember the first time I learned about the mat leave situation in the US was here on Reddit and my eyes almost fell out of from shock and I remember telling all my friends like "omg did you know this" and not talking about anything else for a week and how horrible and unfair this is for the poor mothers and the poor babies etc.

Okay now to the question. Again it's not a provocative question but I'm genuinely trying to grasp the situation. So from what I've understood, the Republican Party (Trump) supposedly stands for family values and is conservative. When I think of conservative family values, I think, among other things, of encouraging mothers to stay home with their children. So in this case why is Trump not as one of the first things, giving mothers up to 2-3 years of maternity leave? Or why did he not tackle this in his last time as a president? Why are the conservative evangelicals that seem to be a large part of Americans not demanding this or focusing on this more. I saw they were very active and in the end successful with their anti-abortion campaigns, why do they not seem to bother to do mat leave campaigns?

Sorry if these questions appear stupid to you. Again I really don't mean any offence! So many wonderful people in the USA 🫶🏼
