How much does this special spoil with zero context?

This special was absolutely beautiful. I have a friend who knows just about nothing past where he is. I turned him onto the anime and he is just starting Little Garden. I really want to have him watching, but since I’m caught up it’s hard to tell just how much it spoils if you don’t know the context.
