If You're Anxious about Politics, Get Involved!

I have depression and anxiety, and I've often felt overwhelmed and awful since November 5th. However, today is the best I've felt in weeks. Why? Because I got involved in something local!

I was at my state house today. First, I joined a group advocating for an amazing housing bill. We talked to many legislators over about 3 hours. It was awesome to see people who also care about local government, and the legislators/staff who get stuff done.

And then, I walk outside to see a huge protest - shoutout r/50501

A different, and equally cool, way of getting involved! And so I went to the protest for a while.

I am buzzing with positive energy. I feel optimistic and hopeful about the people of the United States who are joining together to stop the bullshit and create a better future.

And so, if you're feeling anxious or scared, getting involved and using your agency is a great remedy. I highly recommend finding a local group for an issue you care about, or just talking with some friends about how your state Rep and Senator are doing and what they could do better. It goes a long way :)
