Media download is greatly improved with HEVC encoding
I have lots of 4k HDR + TrueHD audio media, without fallback track.
When I used to "Download" media to my Tablet (not supporting TrueHD), it would do so and transcode to H264, forcing HDR transcode and crawling the transcode in the process.
That would on top lose the subtitles, sad.
Now with the new HEVC transcode, I set my on-the-go devices such as tablets and phones to download with a 8 Mbps target.
Now for my media on the go transcodes to HEVC @ 1080p retaining HDR and a decent enough 192 kbps Opus track downmix from the TrueHD track, good for traveling.
As a bonus it keeps the "auto enabled" subtitles as a toggle file (PGS/SRT/SSA) without burn-in.
So much better than 1 month ago.
