Why are people so against using the block / hide feature?

It’s something I’ve noticed quite a lot on here. People will bring up issues where the clear answer would be to just block or hide the person, but then they act like that just…isn’t an option?

I don’t mean to sound rude when I say this, but please just hide and block people.

If you see someone saying something you don’t like, hide or block them. Someone being rude? Hide or block. It just makes absolutely no sense to me that people would rather keep seeing / interacting with someone or something that makes them uncomfortable or upset when they could just hide / block.
