Rejection of Germany Visa - What's next?
Hello everyone,
I've been following this forum for a while and have tried to gather as much information as possible before applying.
I recently invited my 21-year-old nephew from India to visit us in Germany for three months. Unfortunately, his Schengen visa (Family/Friends Visit) was rejected today. I'm hoping for advice on how to strengthen our case for a re-application.
Background of the Application: I am a German citizen, married to a German, and we have two young children, our youngest being six months old. The main reason for the visa application was to have my nephew visit us for family time, as traveling to India with two small children is difficult. In our Verpflichtungserklärung (financial obligation letter), we guaranteed to cover all his expenses, including travel.
Application Timeline & Documents Submitted: - Visa application submitted: 22.01.2025 (VFS Kolkata) - Rejection received: 03.02.2025 - Documents submitted: - Visa application form - Cover letter (from my nephew) - Birth certificate of my newborn daughter - Invitation letter (from me) - My passport copy - Invitation letter (from my wife) - My wife’s passport copy - Our Meldebescheinigung (residence registration) - Invitation letter from my wife’s parents (both German citizens) - Non-refundable flight tickets (planned for 22.05.2025) - Verpflichtungserklärung (financial obligation letter) - Medical insurance for his stay - Registration certificate of my nephew’s business in India
Next Steps & Request for Advice: Since the rejection letter states that the remonstration process is unavailable until June 2025, our only option is to re-apply.
I would appreciate any advice on how to strengthen our case for the re-application. Has anyone had a similar experience? Are there specific documents or justifications that could help?
Thanks in advance for any guidance!
Edit: Reason for rejection as it was probably not clear from the images i attached. (1) The information submitted regarding the justification for the purpose and conditions of hte intended stay was not reliable. (2) Ther are reasonable doubts as to your intention to leave the territory of the Member States before expiry of the visa.
Background info: I have successfully invited my parents two times and the parents of my nephew already. This was not mentioned clearly in my newphew's application. Mentioning the details would help during the re-application?
