Chase fans and haters alike, I wanna make a guess on what Chase's main problem is
This is something I'm throwing out there, and I wanna see if people agree with me. Chase is my FAVORITE character in the Total Drama Reboot but there's a very big divide in people that like and hate him. Which like it or not is hard to dispute. Which definitely means there's SOMETHING lost in translation on Chase's character. No matter your personal opinions.
I want to assume Chase’s main problem is he’s presented as a 100% comic relief character within a cast who’s already oversaturated with that archetype. And with every other male character in the lineup getting as many funny one-liners as they do, there’s not much room for Chase to stand out since most of his humor comes from sheer presence in spite of Emma rather than physical action, and this physical action is what most others in the cast have to sell us on their humor. Which gives Chase's really entertaining archetype the losing edge since you could name a thousand funny moments from someone like Zee compared to Chase who might get 4 or 5, and to some people that's a VERY generous number lol.
Because on paper. Chase DOES have a really good archetype, he's an Always Sunny in Philadelphia character plopped into Total Drama. That's an AMAZING idea! He mostly needs more comedic moments you can separate in a vacuum. This could be done giving Chase more of an opportunity to take HIMSELF seriously within the context of the story, giving him a set of beliefs as flawed as they are, further developing his humor! OR they can introduce more versatile confidants to bounce off of him, cause Emma somewhat just acted as exposition for WHY he's a bad person more than anything else. These twists amp up Chase's simpler attitude. Giving him more moments of being an idiot in UNIQUE ways. Bringing him up to speed with every other character of his type! Still an unforgivable womanizing dick, just with a different outlet for his comedic delivery, amplifying his overall tone in complement to everyone else around him.
Lemme know if I'm being too vague or you think I'm straight up wrong. I'm spit balling for the sake of input here!
