Makeup tips for brown girlies
I get a lot of compliments on my makeup every time I wear makeup and I have been following a general guidelines for the last few years that's become me signature makeup.
I like a soft makeup that looks fresh and youthful, and I use a lot of different makeup techniques together.
Use brown eyeliner! I like extending my eyeliner to the inner corner and doing an outer wing. Brown eyeliner makes it look so natural and soft, it gives the definition without looking very heavy. Sometimes I'm even using a mix of brown and black where I use brown on the inside corner but black for the wing eyeliner. You can use a light concealer around the eyes if you have hyperpigmentation to make even a light brown eyeliner work for your eyes. I almost exclusively use brown pencil eyeliner for the bottom waterline, sometimes even my eyebrows pencil.
Shape around the eyebrows with concealer. If you have naturally thick eyebrows you may not need eyebrow pencil/gel for defined eyebrows. I follow this up with a clear eyebrow gel. I like a concealer that's slightly lighter to shape the top of the eyebrows and a super bright concealer for under the eyebrows. Use a small concealer brush for this. It is a crucial makeup step for me now!
Use the aegyosal or douyin eyes technique! The former is a milder version but both give similar effect. It looks so cute and fresh.
Use your eyebrow pencil for many things! I use mine to draw my eyeliner before I go ahead with my actual liquid eyeliner. I use it for the bottom lash line. I use it to create the like shadow under the eye bag for douyin eyes effect. Sometimes when I want to use black eyeliner pencil but not look too heavy I use a mixture of both to get the intensity but not lose the soft effect.
Elf liquid blush is amazing for the cheeks. Look straight ahead in the mirror and dot it under your iris and blend from there. You can use a little bit of concealer right under your eyes afterwards if needed.
User light concealer around the lips to cover up hyperpigmentation, use color corrector as needed too. It's the best technique to pull off nude/bright pink lipstick without having to use a dark lip liner.
If you have acne scars around the perimeter of the face like me, just use a concealer that's a little darker than your skin tone to get a soft contour effect. You can use a contour shade concealer if you like heavy contouring.
Whatever you use for your base, get at least one light shade and one dark shade so that you can mix and match as your skin tone changes throughout the year. It works better than trying to find that one perfect foundation shade, you will use other products on top anyway, it's important that it matches your face in the end not in the beginning.
Even if you contour nothing else, contour your jawline.
It's better to use a brush that is too small than a brush that is too big for any product/purpose.
