Please Help: Playing with friend on DLC Reservoir

For example, I have the Aurora Shores DLC but my friend doesn't. He's able to play with me, but we can't figure out how to get him to be able to hunt on the paid reservoir, the rain forest.

Is there no way around this besides him buying the DLC so he can buy the pass ingame? Because I got the pass, but it only let's me claim hunts in that area. Won't let him buy pass because he don't own the DLC.
