Is Shani a viable romance?

So I started playing HoS right after I finished the Witcher 1 and was pleasantly surprised to see the return of Shani. However, I was taken aback when it threw me right back into the Shani romance. In the Witcher 1 Triss seems like the obvious choice for romance due to how one dimensional Shani is, but in HoS they give Shani more personality. So, does Shani actually beat out Yennefer and Triss or is Sharalt destined for failure?
