How to handle emotions as therapist?

This is kinda an odd questioned title, so I’ll explain here

I’m a psychology major and I want to go into therapy of some form. I want to be able to help people. Well, sometimes my family (and sometimes me) wonders if I’m cut out for it because of how I can be soft and a massive overthinker. It could be just me being very new to everything (I don’t have any degrees besides high school) or could be me having my own mental health problems I’m still working on. How did/do you guys tell that this was right for you?
