Bilateral calcaneus fracture
2 screws in each, 25 months post op. I can do 10 hour work days on my feet, but the pain gets pretty rough towards the end of the day. Not unbearable though. I’m a 24m.
When it first happened, they told me I would get them removed. But, at this point, I haven’t consulted a doctor since 4-6 months post op when I was first cleared to start putting weight on them. Can screws be a long term solution? Or am I just running out the clock until something happens and I HAVE to go back into surgery whether I want to or not.
Edit: also if anyone could give me some things to watch out for, early signs that I’m developing problems that I need to go solve, I would really appreciate that. It’s hard to tell what’s problematic and what’s just life after breaking heels. Swelling in both ankles happens every day, bones seem to poke out in new ways. These things seem normal to me. They don’t cause me any new or different pain than the typical.
It is a blessing that I rarely experience bone pain anymore. It’s mostly just nerve and muscular pain.
