It's Your Choice to Have Children, Not Your Responsibility
I've wanted to write this a while, but I'm not a poet so this is just mostly a series of sentences. I've always felt like a theme here at /r/childfree is that so many CF people have chosen to be CF because of some perceived problem that they have that would render them irresponsible if they had children. I think it's a mistake in thinking to sit there and find flaws in oneself to justify one's conscious decisions with, and as an alternative, I wrote the following about how I feel:
I should never have children.
It's not that I cannot afford to pay for a child.
It's not that I cannot stand to be around a child.
It's not that I cannot take the time to help raise a child.
It's not that I cannot find a good enough school for a child. It's not that I do not believe a future child wouldn't be a good kid.
It's not that I do not have the emotional stability for a child.
It's not that I do not think I will be a good parent.
It's not that I do not have good enough genes for the next generation. It's not that I will not dedicate myself to my family.
It's not that I will not be responsible to my progeny.
It's not that I will not make sacrifices for my family.
and It's not that I will not stay with them thick or thin.I should never have children because I do not want to have children.
That's it.
So that's my opinion. Thoughts are welcome.
TL;DR: It's your choice to have children, not your responsibility.
