Thinking of making stuffed animals for hospitalized children

It's been on my mind for a while after a seeing a previous post on here many years ago (apologies to OP for not giving credit where credit is due).

My idea is to give away hand made stuffed animals that I crochet to my local hospital that specializes in pediatrics.

Writing this post to get your thoughts, suggestions, cautions, etc! Any logistic advice or things to consider will be very helpful.

Also, I am certainly not in a financial situation where I can buy a bunch of yarn for this project so if anyone has suggestions for finding free yarn or would like to donate some to the children please let me know as well!
