Work gala: should I trim this dress shorter

Hey y’all going to a work gala with boyfriend. It’s going to be on Friday evening (work night) so it seems like most ppl will go in semi-formal to formal wear instead of black tie.

He just started working two month ago. Is this dress appropriate?

it’s currently sitting slightly below my ankles(p1) , should I trim it to above my ankles like (p3) model product page??
