Probationary Employee Fired NOT for Performance Excuse
(new/throwaway account to protect myself) Hope everyone is hanging in there. Yesterday my agency (an independent agency that cares for our records lol) let go of most probationary employees effective immediately, which included me. There was also a disabled vet who got laid off with me from the team, sadly. I was mentally as prepared as possible.
What I DIDNT expect was the reasoning they cited in their letter. I know most probies are being fired with the performance excuse (which seems to be mostly BS). My agency decided to state outright that the reason was due to downsizing. They literally say it's because of "direction to agencies to reduce budgets....and prepare for a reduction in force."
Just sharing for awareness (edited to clarify that a few select probies were deemed essential at my agency, but most were let go)
