Prescribed Levofloxacin for UTI...Worried after reading people's stories

I have horrible recurrent UTIs. For the most recent round, I was prescribed Cephalexin by a doctor who I haven't seen before (couldn't get in soon enough with my PCP). Finished the course of antibiotics and of course symptoms start up again. Unfortunately at this point I'm traveling, so I call in to the same doctor and he prescribes Levofloxacin without talking to me again.

I didn't think anything of it until I saw the side effects... While trying to figure out how rare the side effects are I stumbled upon this sub. I have a documented history of depression and suicidal ideation as well as some mild hallucinations. I also have some suspected tendon problems in my wrists I have yet to get checked out. Especially given this, I am deeply worried about taking Levofloxacin.

It's been a few days and I've just been managing symptoms but I don't know what to do. I'm scared and in pain from the UTI and I just want to be done with it all. I'm worried that since this class of antibiotics seem to generally be the last resort that this is the only way to get rid of the damn UTI. I think I just want some support or words of wisdom from anyone who might be similar to me.
