Genuine question: why is IF so hard to get through? (Spoilers included!!)

I need some insight cause it’s happening to me again. I’m on my second read through (decided to do the graphic audio book this time round) and it’s still hard to get through Iron Flame for some reason.

After Violet gets saved from Varrish and leads half the quadrant to Aretia things become dare I say…boring ?

I had a hard time as it was with Violets constant whining about Xayden and the truth (not that I don’t think she deserves the truth) but I do feel like it was a broken record at some point and I really didn’t want RY turning her into a whiny FMC…

I’m still enjoying it but I ate up Fourth Wing like it was nobody’s business and this is the second time I’ve found reading Iron Flame difficult. I really hope Onyx Storm brings it back.

I think the only way I’ll get back into it is when Violet gets brought into the Vale or before the Elders. That’s gotta happen at some point right.
