Old Gibson Acoustic. Any help appreciated.
My dad has owned guitars his entire life, for as far back as I can remember being a child.. He never once picked one up, let alone actually strum one!
So, I always found it rather sad that I wasn't allowed to touch them. In a way, I do blame him for never introducing me to learning. I've always been self taught in nearly everything that I do.
Sadly, my dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's just before COVID hit us all, but ee already knew something was up because of changes in behaviour.
Before lockdown hit, I begged to "borrow" his custom electric Fender strat! He agreed to let me touch it for the first time in 35 years! Honestly, being locked indoors with a fender strat for months while the world outside goes to hell, was truly awesome. I loved lockdown!
By the end of lockdown, I had taught myself a fair amount of guitar basics. And my dad gave both to me... He said he won't be using them any time soon and I'm the only person in the family that can "play" guitar...😄
I promised that they would go to a loving home and I would play them every day... very gently. 🤗
That was the last "conversation" we had. His condition has deteriorated to only sitting in silence with only sad, confused looks remaining.
A truly cruel illness.
Anyway, happy thoughts....GUITARS!
Yes, so. If anyone could help tell me about the Gibson. It's old. Is it any good? It's too sentimental to sell, but I'd be interested to know, I should probably get it insured with all his other never-used vintage guitar gear. Who knows, might be a hidden treasures.
