Home Depot won't price match Home Depot

Sorry, I realize this sounds crazy which is why I talked to customer service after being told by a cashier that my local Home Depot store will not price match the Home Depot website or app, but will match Amazon or Lowes.

I specifically went to HD because I needed an air switch and the app told me is was in stock for $79.

Once I got to the store, I pulled up the app so I could find the item, and when I found it, it was marked at $104. I figured, well this is a no-brainer they'll just match the price on their app.

Went to self-check out - item scanned at $104 - I showed associate the app and she said "we don't price match the HD website" and I asked her to repeat that because it couldn't be true. She repeated to me that they would not match their listed price in the app or website because "It's a different thing".

I figured this had to be an ill-advised associate so I went to customer service where they repeated the same thing. The CS rep said she'd "do it for me this one time to make me smile" but that was the policy. I thanked her, and said this is not your fault, but this is a ridiculous policy.

So, if I had ordered this on the app for store pickup, I would have been charged $79. If I go into the store, the item is marked up $25 and despite the app (which is set to in-store mode) showing me where the item is and the lower price, HD is going to gouge me $25 just because.

If you have a choice, go somewhere else.

EDIT TO ADD: This was not an item listed as being "On Sale" or any other discounted price.
