How many of you migrated from 1/12 to 1/6?
When I first started collecting figures as an adult, I preferred 1/12 over 1/6. 1/12 is cheaper, takes up less space, and was easier for me to pose. Whereas 1/6 was too unwieldy to pose, and I didn't have a good enough eye for detail to appreciate the figures. I was collecting mainly Marvel and Star Wars, and consciously chose quantity over quality.
However, there were a lot of figures that I wanted that were only available in 1/6. Mostly historical warriors. Then as I collected more, I realized that the characters I most wanted as figures were only 1/6. My collection bloated with lots of 1/12 (mostly Marvel and Star Wars), but I realized that the marginal value I derived from each new 1/12 figure was decreasing. My favorite figures in my collection are basically all 1/6 (Limtoys Arthur Morgan, Poptoys Last Samurai, HY Toys Persian warrior, Coo Model Conquistador).
Recently I decided to sell off most of my 1/12 collection, and get Hot Toys figures for all of my most favorite Marvel and Star Wars characters. And my collection will mostly look consistent in size, which will be nice. So ironically I'll probably save money in the long run because I'm much more selective with buying 1/6, rather than preordering every new Marvel Legends or Star Wars Black Series that comes out.
There are still some 1/12 figures I'll keep, mostly because they don't have 1/6 equivalents, like my Aquaman movie Mafex figures, 1/12 and 1/18 Halo figures, or GI Joe Classified. But I think I'll feel better overall with the decluttering.
