Never had a boyfriend

I've never had a Bf and even though IRL I show as if it doesn't bother me, it slightly does. I'm an introverted person so I only speak to people who strike up a conversation with me, hence I have no or minimal social skills I'd say. I just want some pointers on how I could seem more approachable because all the guys I've talked with have always mentioned me as intimidating but it's just a defense mechanism.
