Advice: are ZT's from big box really trash? Alternatives?
New homeowner here, looking for some advice on a zero turn lawnmower for a 1.29 acre yard that's pretty flat with a decent amount of trees and landscaping. Originally I was going to purchase a new Cub Cadet Ultimate ZT1 42' Kawasaki engine from Home Depot but after further research on forums, I'm backing away from that idea. Many said those type of ZT's from big box stores are trash and only last a few years. I'm not an expert but would think something that is used and maintained properly would last more than a few years but alas, here I am. My price range is between 3-4k and I know that's pretty low for a ZT but it's what I got to work with. I heard a lot about Scag and other brands that are way better but prices on those seem to be out of my range. I'm looking for advice on what an average joe like myself (not a lawn professional or lawn snob) could get that would be the best investment for the money that can get the job done. Appreciate any advice! Photos included for yard reference.
