As someone wanting to go to Harvard Law School in the future, how important would it be to attend a top 10 vs a top 30 undergrad university.
I am a current active duty military and I'm applying as a transfer to multiple universities. My top picks are UCLA and UC Irvine. Since I still work full time in the military I have to juggle college life and my full time job as well as being a single mom and everything that comes with life. With that said, UC Irvine is about a 30 min commute from my job / home, while UCLA is a 2 hour drive (not including California traffic) One of the reasons why I really want to go to UCLA is it being the #1 public school in the country and I want to do everything I can to, to get admitted to Harvard Law School (high GPA, LSAT, extracurriculars, etc) Considering the fact that commuting 2 hrs back and forth plus possibly have to miss out on lectures since work comes first, I think going to UCLA would be harder to maintain good grades compared to UC Irvine. I'm an extremely dedicated student that goes above and beyond to maintain straight a's but I am trying to be as realistic as possible. Anyone here with experience on this topic, I would appreciate any advice, weighing the convenience of attending a nearby college and is ranking around #33, or is it worth the sacrifice to attend UCLA V being #1.
