Have you tried really hard endurance training to lose weight? What happened?

No, I don't mean when you've just went jogging or cycling. Everybody was doing it. And I even don't care how long day after day you have been doing it. Probably everybody was doing it as well. I mean something different.

I mean endurance training which involve continuous and measurable improvement of your performance during the activity, when you push your performance further and further, day after day, month after month.

It can be cycling, running, swimming...

When I'm improving in gym, I need to measure every repetition and weight and then ensure that next training session I will improve by 1 repetition. That's improvement. In case of endurance training I will run like 5 miles in 60 minutes and I will set goal that next month it must be 59 minutes.

I think that lot of people when they are losing weight they go do some cardio. But I don't think they are measuring their progress and pushing it further and further.

So has anybody tried this to fight obesity?
