Do people hate desk jobs?

In a lot of movies people are punished with desk work for messing up on the job; or they are working desk jobs and trying to get out into the field. This seems to be most common with police movies, a few about reporters/journalists as well.

But in real life, most people I know seem to prefer desk work.

In workplaces that have some desk workers and some doing other jobs, most people prefer the desk jobs.

Jobs that are a mix of being in the field and being at the desk, the desk part is usually considered the easy part.

Are movies lying to me or is it actually common that people don’t like “being stuck behind a desk”?
