Yellowstone it's such a weird show

Hi, I've watched 4 seasons of Yellowstone so far and every episode it's more ridiculous than the last one. For starters, this is just my opinion and I know it's supposed to be a drama but I can't just get pass the things I'm about to write.

First, I would like to list the things that I do like and enjoy about the show: 1- the photography. The gorgeous landscapes are really nice to watch. 2- the scene where John is with his father on the mountains just talking about the life he lived is such a heartwarming scene. 3- Mo's outfits. He's such a stylish guy.

Now, I'd like to make a few points about the characters: - John Dutton: I low-key think he's the leader of a cult. I found the branding on the chest of the men in the ranch to be incredibly weird, at some point the show almost acknowledges it when Kasey talks about it and makes it seem that that's the reason behind the hate for his father, but then everyone forgets about it. John Dutton uses his children while he spends his days doing nothing and feeling sad because he eats alone. Also, he hates Jamie for no reason. He immediately forgets he had a son who died on the first episode. And with all this, the writers keep trying to make us think he's a good person.

  • Kasey Dutton: I think he's a likeable character, he seams to be one of the few reasonable people in the show. He's fine.

  • Jamie Dutton: I really don't understand what the writers are doing with this character, he's like the punching bag of the show (him and Jimmy) which is just cringe at some points and it makes me wonder what his storyline even is. He's not interesting, doesn't have great dialogues and has almost no time screen. The first few seasons he existed to clean John's missteps but then he stopped having a purpose.

  • Rip: his backstory is very interesting to me but not explored enough. He's arrogant, annoying and loyal to John to a point where I was wondering if he was in love with him. He's portrayed like a badass but really he's an asshole.

  • Thomas rainwaters: weak character, has no purpose after the first or second season.

  • jimmy: almost like Jamie. Everyone treats him like shit for no reason, hes kind and naive most of the time and I think the show tries to make him the comic relief but it's just sad to watch his scenes.

  • Lloyd: I thought he was a cool character, pretty solid in terms of a secondary character but then they gave him such a weird storyline with that blonde girl and the walker guy which made me so confused because it was so out of the blue and unnecessary.

Now I want to discuss the portrayal of women in this show. Every sigle woman in this show is so annoying to the point where it made me angry watching Monica on screen for example because she's such an inconsistent character and is always portrayed as petty and weak. Jimmy's girlfriend, mia it's a creepy character, the scene in the hospital where she has sex with him made me very uncomfortable. Jamie's girlfriend, Christina is unbelievable annoying, I don't understand how can someone write such a hollow and stupid character. Teeter is a nice character when she's not harassing Colby. And finally we get to Beth. Beth is a shallow woman trying to convince us that she's not. She's bad because of her mother's death and the situation of the abortion with Jamie, which would be very interesting situations to explore for understanding her more deeply but no, we get a few flashbacks and a bunch of scenes sexualizing her for no reason, Kelly Reilly is a great actress I give you that, but she could do a lot more if her character was well written.
