Carol from "Empty Nest" must be the most annoying character in The Golden Girls franchise

I couldn't stand Carol on "Empty Nest", I never found her funny and her acting was terrible, she'd chew every piece of furniture and appeared to assume overacting made herself funny.

Yet in "The Golden Girls", I enjoyed Carol more. She got funnier lines and her character was less bitter and unlikable. Carol's whining was more effective when she played against Blanche or Dorothy, yet on "Empty Nest", I found her unbearable.
