Can fresh dept workers be cross trained

Basically the title, it seems that our store plans on cross training all fresh associates for OPD and register. Some people are saying it's not possible due to the job code under fresh but I'm not sure where to find that information if it's true. Anyone able to lead me to a source for any solid information?
